The market of internet service has expanded rapidly during 2016.
According to data from the Authority of Electronic and Postal Communications, the number of Internet subscribers to fixed lines at the end of the year amounted to approximately 266 thousand, up by nearly 10% compared with the end of 2015.
In a year, there are about 24 thousand new Internet service subscribers.
The increase is even higher in the section of integrated services users, including Internet, telephony and television.
The number of subscribers that receive at least two of these services has also reached 186 thousand marking an annual growth of 25%.
Of these, approximately 93 thousand subscribers receive three services simultaneously through a single connection.
In particular, the inclusion of pay-TV platforms has driven the expansion of integrated communications services.
Internet broadband service is witnessing an even greater expansion through mobile networks.
Based on the AEPC statistics, 1.69 million Albanians have access to 3G or 4G internet services, mainly from mobile devices, but also through the USB modem devices for computers.
The number of internet users from mobile networks increased by 30% in one year, strongly influenced by 4G technology and an increased use of smart phones.
