Albania’s Production Price Index grew by 2% in Q3: INSTAT data
The Producer Price Index grew further in the third quarter of the year, boosting expectations for a rise in inflation over the coming months.
According to data from the Institute of Statistics, the producer price index rose by 2% compared to the same period year-on-year.
In the second quarter, growth was 1.6%, showing thus a growing trend.
The Production Price Index measures the prices with which the products are marketed by domestic producers.
The increase in the price at which goods are placed on the market is likely to be followed by an increase in further trading links, up to sales to final buyers, affecting the consumer price index.
The rise in production prices is consistent with expectations for gradual inflation growth.
It is expected that the average inflation this year will climb above the 2% limit, from 1.3% last year.
On the other hand, the rise in production prices is an important indicator for the performance of the manufacturing business.
Price increases add to the incentives to increase production, employment and wages in the industry.
Consequently, this growth can be interpreted as a positive signal for the expected performance of the domestic manufacturing sector.
