Albania’s key Arber Road 240m euro concession contract signed with local company
The Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy has signed the concession contract for the improvement, construction, operation and maintenance of the Arber Road.
At the conclusion of the negotiation process, the contract with the winning company of the competition was signed by the Secretary General of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy Gentian Keri and the President of the company Gjoka Konstruksion Rrok Gjoka.
Following the signing, Minister of Infrastructure and Energy Damian Gjiknuri stated that the contract was concluded after a long competitive process and intensive negotiation.
“We are highly convinced that the company has taken all measures to realize part of financing and to start construction works within the deadlines set in the contract, ie within this year. It is one of the most important works, a very good news for the Albanian citizens, but above all for the citizens of Dibra who have been waiting for this road for many years,” Minister Gjiknuri said.
According to him, the road is an important work, but from an engineering point of view, it will be one of the most accomplished works in Albania.
“It is a work that will cost 240m euros and in this contract we have foreseen that the state will pay its liabilities within a period of 13 years. The contractor will build the road at first with his own expenses and will maintain this road throughout the concession period,” Gjiknuri stressed.
Explaining that this is the first time that such a contract is signed, Minister Gjiknuri clarified that he will pursue other similar projects of Public-Private Partnership.
Meanwhile, the President of Gjoka Konstruksion guaranteed that the company will rigorously implement the commitments undertaken in this concession contract.
