Association of Medical and Flavoring Plants calls for higher gov’t subsidies
In terms of Albania’s economic development, where agricultural products have a significant share in the country’s GDP, the processing and marketing of medicinal plants requires a greater support from the state institutions.
The President of the Association of Medical and Flavoring Plants, Filip Gjoka, said during a national conference that state policies affecting the medical herb industry should influence the progress and creation of facilities in this area.
But the Minister of Economic Development, Milva Ekonomi, said that this sector should benefit from the support and development programs that the government has as a competitor or start-up.
According to data from this association, the industry reached an export value of about $ 35 million in the last year and there are about 90,000 employees employed throughout the territory.
