Average salary dropped to ALL 45.800 in 2016: INSTAT
The average salary in the economy suffered a sudden drop in 2016.
Based on INSTAT data, the average gross salary for last year declined to ALL 45.800, down by 2.1% compared with 2015.
The level of average wages in the economy was particularly hit by the drop in the extracting industry, transport and some of the branches of services.
Last year has been challenging for the mining industry, which was reflected in a decline of 6.7% of the average wage, while in the transport sector the decline marked a stunning 7.3%.
Even for those sectors where wages have increased, the increase has generally been dismal.
An exception is only the energy sector with an increase of 8.7% and the sector of professional services with 11.6%.
In absolute terms, the highest wages in the economy last year were reported in the activity of international organizations, hitting a level as high as 124.000 per month.
Regarding the Albanian economy, the section with the highest average wage is that of financial services with 98 thousand per month and the section of communication and information at ALL 71 thousand per month.
Meanwhile, the lower average wages were reported in those sectors that hold the highest share in employment, such as agriculture, manufacturing industry or bars and restaurants.
Although the Albanian economy is improving its growth indicators, these figures are not reflected uniformly in all macroeconomic indicators.
