Balkans have a great potential, EU will continue its support: Hahn in Trieste Summit

Commissioner for Enlargement and good neighborly relations of the European Commission Johannes Hahn took the floor at the opening of the business forum held in Trieste, Italy on the same day with the highest level summit of six Western Balkan countries.
Hahn also signed an additional fund for enterprises in the region, which are also the focus of this forum.
“We are here to sign a contract worth 48 million euros for the Western Balkan ventures. This money will enable us to reach about 6000 small and medium enterprises. We intend to enable about 250 million euros in the form of loan to these businesses.
This is not the beginning of something new, but the continuation of a process that lasts since 10 years and we have spent about 220 million euros so far. Anyway, I think, the region has a huge untapped potential, and this is why it is important for the support, especially the financial one, to continue.
Economic preparation is a key element for the future of the region in the European Union. The program is important not only to attract foreign investors, but also for the local investors or those within the region”.
Economy is the battle horse for the Western Balkans in the fight against time to integrate into the European Union.
This is confirmed not only by the presence of Hahn in the business forum, but also by its numerous initiatives towards a greater cooperation between countries in the region, especially his idea for a Balkan customs union.
