Business capacity utilization rate experiencing a hike: BoA

Business capacity utilization rate saw a hike in the first quarter this year.

According to the Bank of Albania, businesses operating in the industry sector have used the capacity on average 75%, or 6.8 percentage points more than in the previous quarter.

Capacity utilization rate in the sector remains slightly higher compared with the historical average of 72.4%.

In the first quarter of 2017, capacity utilization rate in the construction sector was estimated to be at about 61.6%, or 3.4 percentage points higher compared with the previous quarter.

However, this rate remains 2.6 percentage points below the historical average of the sector.

In trade, capacity utilization rate stands at 71.2%, up 1.4 percentage points compared with the previous quarter, but continued to be 6.3 percentage points below its historical average.

Services sector is currently the healthiest branch of the economy and this can be seen even from the capacity utilization rate, estimated at an average of 79.8%.

This value is 2 percentage points higher than the rate recorded in the previous quarter and 3.4 percentage points above the historical average.
