€ 69 million state aid – Innovation received the largest share
The amount of state aid provided in Albania to businesses or individuals, during the past year reaches the value of nearly 69 million euros or 0.5 percent of Gross Domestic Product. Referring to the annual report on state aid disclosed by TV SCAN, it is noted that during the period 2015-2019 the total figure reaches 198.1 million euros, where 2019 reaches a record figure in relation to GDP. The main instruments of state aid in Albania during the past year are grants and tax exemptions, refunds or tax rate reductions.
In the total aid provided, the main place with about 50.4% is occupied by horizontal aid, which includes support for research and development and innovation, which received the largest funds during 2019, at about 16.7 million euros or 49 percent of the total. 6 percent of the amount went to operational assistance, while assistance to small and medium enterprises, employment, training, sports and culture varies from 2 to 3 percent.
