Energy production fell by 10% in 2020 – MPs require more efforts by ERE to diversify production sources

Electricity production during 2020 was 10% lower than the 10-year average due to the unfavorable hydric situation. The data were provided by the head of the Energy Regulatory Entity, Petrit Ahmeti during the reporting to the Parliamentary Commission of Production Activities, while according to the deputies this situation requires the intensification of the work of this department in terms of diversification of energy production sources.

Also, Arben Pëllumbi in his capacity as rapporteur requested the functioning of the energy exchange. He also stopped at setting up the charging system for electric vehicles.

During the discussions in the Assembly, importance was also given to the use of the TAP gas pipeline, requesting the establishment of a regulatory basis in terms of gasification of the country. Also, Ahmeti said that in addition to the use of gas for the operation of the Vlora TPP, concrete discussions are being conducted for the Korça TPP.
