EU Assistance Fair: Pre-accession funds for 2014-2020 period to amount to 683.5 mln euro

The funds that the European Union has allocated for Albania for the period 2014-2020 amount to euro 683.5 million, which are expected to assist the development of the country, through projects in various fields, before its EU accession.
At the opening of the EU Assistance Fair, the Integration Minister Klajda Gjosha said that around 700 million euros in financial support from the EU have been allocated in the implementation of reforms in various sectors.
Gjosha expressed her confidence that Albania has created a solid basis for accession to the Union, while highlighting the importance of these funds for the Albanian economy.
The European Union has provided 683.5 million euro IPA funds for the period 2014-2020, as pre-accession assistance.
From this fund, 134 million euro have been allocated to support the program budget sector, while 14.9 million euro have been put at the country’s disposal for recovery after the floods of 2015.
Among priority sectors, EU is assisting with funding in fields such as democracy and governance, education, agriculture, environment and transport.
Meanwhile, soon the country will benefit from another project for tourism, with an EU assistance of 50 million euros.
