Konfindustria welcomes promised tax cuts, calls for better fiscal policies

Konfindustria has welcomed the cut of tax burden for certain categories of businesses and individuals presented in the program of the Government that resulted from the June 25th elections, stating that it should be the first step towards the necessary improvement of fiscal policies implemented so far.

“The program of the ruling majority presented to the Albanian Parliament envisaged easing of fiscal policies and, in particular, the reduction of the tax on dividend and profit for technology companies to 6% and the reduction of income tax for certain categories of individuals at the level of 18%. Konfindustria estimates that the above measures will not have any tangible positive impact if they are not associated with the essential improvement of all fiscal policies so far,” Konfindustria states.

According to Konfindustria, the application of the reduction of the dividend tax could have consequences on the economy of the country and the beneficiaries will be only privileged monopolies.

“Fiscal policies in force are among the main causes of the difficult economic situation, the weak competitiveness in attracting foreign and domestic investments compared to the region, the low GDP growth and massive outflow of Albanian citizens abroad,” concludes the statement.
