“Less income from royalties” – Dervishaj: Taxation will be done on dry ore. Beqaj: Request of interest groups

The Commission of Production Activities has overturned the decree of the president, which returned for reconsideration the changes in the law “On the mining sector” which, according to the government, aim to facilitate investments in this sector. The legal advisor of the president, Bledar Dervishaj presented all the arguments on which the return of the law for reconsideration was based, while emphasizing that it will be followed by lower revenues from the royalty tax due to the changes in the new definition, which is made minerals.

Dervishaj also focused on the time of approval of legal changes, which coincides with the period before the April 25 elections.

Amendments to the law “On the mining sector”, which provide for the reduction of the value of the financial guarantee, which must be deposited by companies that hold a mining license for exploration. Also, the transfer of permits granted by competitive procedure is foreseen, where according to the changes, the possibility of transfer will be allowed after a period of 5 years from the date of issuance of the permit.
