Local gov’t’s collect ALL 2.6 bln more than in 2016
Reforms or increase in fees by some municipalities have given the expected effects, driving local authorities in Albania toward a positive performance.
The performance of local government units “lingering” on the state budget seems now to have been left behind.
Referring to the data of fiscal indicators by the Ministry of Finance, during the five months of this year has been collected about ALL 9.3 billion or ALL 2.6 billion more than the same period a year ago.
According to official statistics of the Ministry of Finance, in the first five months of 2016, local governments collected more than ALL 6.7 billion.
Currently, the local taxes, the proceeds of which go to the state budget, are those applied on properties, the tax on small business and local taxes.
But referring to the data, there are two analysis that can be made: whether the forecast is lower than capacity, or local governments have increased their performance.
But in all these years local governments have not managed efficiently their resources, which is reflected in the income indicators.
While the reform for the new administrative division of the country has already entered into force in the second half of 2015, it has brought changes in planned budgets of local governments.
