“Old Tirana” still favorite for businesses in the capital
Economic activities operating in the capital of Albania cover the most different categories, but it seems that those leading the market are the subjects of the “retailer” type.
They are mostly small neighborhood stores, selling food or clothing.
According to data from the General Directory of Local Taxes and Tariffs for 2016, 18.027 retail entities operate in 24 Tirana’s administrative units.
The second category in the ranking is held by service units, such as hotels, bars, restaurants, etc., amounting to 13.285 subjects in total.
Then follow subjects of the kinds “wholesale”, “production units”, “free professions” “organizations, foundations, entities, associations”, “construction companies”, “transport companies” and so on.
While the lowest number of economic entities in the capital seems to belong to the category of street vendors with only 81 businesses in 24 administrative units.
Businesses seem to prefer mostly “old Tirana” to exercise their activity since the highest number of registered entities is concentrated in the former 11 units of capital.
Kashar is also a favorite area where a large number of enterprises from all categories is concentrated, with most of them from the “retail” category, “service units”, “wholesale”, “construction companies”, etc.
After Kashar, the highest number of activities is registered in Dajti and Farka, followed by Vaqarri, while the lowest number is reported in Zall Bastari with only 10 subjects in total.
