Parliament due to discuss fiscal amnesty draft
The highly controversial draft of forgiving the debt that businesses owe to the fiscal administration in Albania has been already included in parliamentary procedures and on Monday the Parliamentary Commission of Economy is expected to start discussions about it.
This government initiative comes after numerous discussions and following an agreement with the International Monetary Fund.
According to the report accompanying the draft, the total tax and customs debt is expected to potentially decrease by ALL 91 billion.
The value of tax of used equipment to be deregistered, according to data from the General Directory of Road Transport Services, is estimated about ALL 11.9 billion.
But according to the report, the amnesty is divided into different periods.
Over the past two years 2015-2016, tax and customs administrations have taken a series of measures in the action against informality in the country.
This plan against informality is accompanied at the same time with a series of measures to simplify and ease the fiscal procedures.
This move aims to reflect the expectations and requirements of the business community in order to improve the business climate and tax administration.
But, this initiative has had some additional requests from the business community, in order to extend certain deadlines of the amnesty.
The business community has sought for years a full amnesty, since frequent amnesties have not had the expected effects on the economy.
