Recognition of patents from Italy – The agreement is signed in Tirana, in force only when approved by the Italian parliament
Italy will recognize Albanian patents, while the agreement between the Albanian and Italian governments “On mutual recognition of driving licenses for conversion purposes” was signed in Tirana. On behalf of the Albanian government, this agreement was signed by the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs, Olta Xhaçka, while for the Italian side, by the Ambassador of Italy to our country, Fabrizio Buçi. The text of the agreement was approved in principle by the Albanian government on March 10 this year, which paved the way for the signing of the agreement.
Meanwhile, its signing will be followed by the completion of the internal legal procedures of each party, until its publication in the Official Gazette. A similar procedure was followed with the recognition of patents with Greece, as it took more than a year and a half for the agreement on the recognition of Albanian patents in Greece to be approved by the Greek parliament, to pave the way for its implementation.
According to the document signed in 2018, Albanian citizens, who are equipped with a license, can drive vehicles in the Greek territory, within the period of validity of the driving license, as long as they have not established normal residence in the Greek state. Currently, Albania has similar agreements with some countries, while efforts are being made with Germany.
