Revaluation of real estate assets benefited ALL 25.6 bln to Albanians: Ahmetaj

The balance of economic, fiscal and credit indicators were the focus of an analysis that Finance Minister Arben Ahmetaj made this Tuesday at a meeting with journalists.

Ahmetaj focused on a series of figures among which the performance of the revaluation of real estate assets which is translated to a profit of $ 250 million for Albanian citizens.

“Since September 1 until May 15 about 48 thousand applications with a total value of ALL 3.95 billion were registered in Albania. As a result of the tax reduction from 15% to 2% citizens have saved ALL 25.6 billion. Thanks to the revaluation of their properties, today the value of Albanians property is increased by ALL 1.9 billion,” Ahmetaj said.

The Minister of Finance noted that the government continues to remain faithful to the progressive tax scheme and its success in the distribution of income in the economy, and to this aim there will be a revision to deepen it. However, Ahmetaj preferred not to give more details.

“Let’s not forget the benefits of the citizens from the progressive tax. [I’m talking here about] 97 percent of Albanians with lower wages, about ALL 50 billion in four years of governance,” the minister said.

The performance of customs and tax administrations according to Ahmetaj has been at satisfactory levels in the period from January to April and, in terms of revenues, preliminary data show a trend that is more positive than the plan.
