SCAN reveals 2018 fiscal package: 6 laws expected to undergo change

The new fiscal package that will accompany the next year’s budget has already taken the final form from experts of the Ministry of Finance.
SCAN has seen this draft, which envisions changes to some laws that are expected to affect the “pockets” of citizens and business.
So according to this draft the main changes are:
The property tax and the main purpose of this bill is:
– To change the taxation method of buildings by changing the methodology for calculating this tax by a fixed tax based on the surface of the building, expressed in square meters, in percentage tax which is applied on the market value of the building;
– Establishing a Fiscal Cadastre (immovable property registry) which will support and increase the efficiency of the collection of building tax;
– Reclassification of the table tax, in order to have a fair tax referring to the type of table (simple, illuminated, electronic);
– Exemption from infrastructure impact tax of investments made for the construction of 4-star or 5-star accommodation, offering them a “special status” as defined in the relevant legislation in the field of tourism.
The immovable property tax consists of three types of tax:
- a) Tax on the building;
- b) Agricultural Land Tax;
- c) Land tax.
- d) This draft law is expected to have a positive effect on the state budget revenues by approximately ALL 2.4 billion.
