‘Skavica’ Hec towards construction – 2 scenarios / 308 and 510 million euros, Balluku: Financing will come from the state budget
The government plans to start construction of the Skavica hydropower plant next year, as part of the Drini Cascade. The financing of the project, designed since the 1960s, is expected to be done from the state budget, while there are 2 scenarios on the table, one of which has a cost of 308 million euros, while the other 510 million euros. According to the Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku, the realization of this project will not only increase the production of electricity, but will optimize the production of all 3 other cascade hydropower plants, while on the other hand it will avoid floods in the area of Shkodra.
The Administrator of KESH, presented in detail the 2 variants proposed by the contracted consultant to design the feasibility study, where in the best case the installed power is predicted to be 210 MW.
