The Balkans to offer a single tourist product: Alliance of Hotel Associations gathers in Oher
The Balkan Peninsula is expected to offer a common tourist product. At least this was what was achieved in an agreement signed between representatives from regional governments and businesses from Albania, Kosovo, Bulgaria, Macedonia, Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina at the Ohrid International Forum, organized by the Balkan Alliance of Hotel Associations.
The parties agreed that only a common Balkan product can arouse interest for the region in distant markets such as Japan, China and the United States, just to mention a few
The motto of the Balkan Alliance of Hotel Associations is to offer cultural tourism that is focused on history and not on war.
The second rule within the alliance is that you can talk only in a good way about your neighbors or “keep your mouth shut”.
Representatives of businesses and governments discussed how a national and regional brand could be imposed.
In the framework of the meeting, the attendants also held several visits to Ohrid Lake, St. Naum Monastery, as well as to Korça and Pogradec.
They were welcomed with a banquet of traditional meals of the area, while besides the climate, they were also impressed by the new Museum of Medieval Art in Korça.
The best representatives from businesses received awards at the end of this meeting, while the best hotels were from Kosovo, Macedonia and Bulgaria.
