The potential of nautical tourism in Albania. WB: Albania has a growth potential, but there are very few berths-places
Nautical tourism although a new form of modern tourism is presented as a very good economic opportunity for Albania due to the good positioning of the coastline. According to a study conducted by the World Bank on the development of the Blue Economy in Albania, we see that there are very promising sectors for the country’s economy, but in terms of the nautical industry, marine infrastructure does not support the development of this sector.
From the data obtained from this study, it is stated that, the landing sites in Albania constitute only 0.5% of the number of landing sites in the Adriatic Sea. Compared to the countries of the region, Albania has the smallest number of toll booths calculated with its coastline.
Montenegro with a coastline of 294 km has 2220 berths, while our country with a coastline of 476 km has only 354 berths. From the above data, considering the length of the coastline as an indicator of the capacity that Albania has compared with Montenegro, we can say that this sector can be very promising for the development of nautical tourism.
