Tourists from EU on the rise, “patriotic” tourism in decline by 15%: Kasa
This was a good year for tourism in Albania as there was a higher number of foreign tourists compared to a year ago, mainly from European Union countries.
In an interview with SCAN Television, the head of the Albanian Tourist Union Rrahman Kasa stressed that during this season alone Rinas Airport reported over 30 charter flights a week, while adding that a significant part involved individual tourism.
“The number of tourists coming to Albania has increased. What is most important for a tourist season and for tourism in general is organized tours. Currently there are about 30 charter flights per week at Rinas Airport.”
Further on, Kasa added that this year evidenced a decrease of tourists from Kosovo and other Albanian lands at 10-15% compared to 2016.
“As far as tourists from Kosovo or Macedonia or otherwise classified as patriotic tourists are concerned, the flux is at the same level. As far as I know from reports from the Kosovo Tourism Association, there is a decrease of this number, as far as these tourists from Kosovo and all Albanian areas are concerned. There is a 10-15 percent decline. This has come as a result of the impossibility of accommodation because, as I mentioned a bit earlier, many of the hotels and resorts were booked by tourists from Europe.”
Regarding hotel prices, the head of the Albanian Tourist Union Rrahman Kasa emphasized that this tourist season reported a slight growth, but this has not prevented many tourists from selecting Albania to spend their holidays.
