We consumed less coffee, cigarettes and alcohol! Pandemic / Fuel import, highest in 6 years
The COVID-19 pandemic has also had its effects on the import of excise goods. Referring to the detailed indicators of the General Directorate of Customs, it is noticed that the import and consequently the consumption of cigarettes has decreased in 9 months, making it the lowest figure imported in the last 5 years, recorded in approx. 1900 tons.
Also, the consumption of coffee has decreased, which is apparently caused by the temporary closure of the premises but also by the fear of citizens to frequent them because they are considered places with high risk for the spread of Covida-19. Thus, the amount of imported coffee in 9 months is 5782 tons, making it the lowest figure since 2015, where the average import of this product is over 6 thousand tons.
