Will “closed weekends” make a comeback in Albania? Will this be the new measure to prevent the spread of COVID?
Albania has seen in recent days a strong increase in cases of COVID-19 virus infections and also a high increase in the number of deaths. Last Tuesday marked the most tragic daily balance with 19 casualties in one day.
So far, several measures have been taken, including closing after 22:00 in the evening until 06:00 in the morning.
In public appearances, the Pandemic Technical Committee has announced that the measures will be in proportion to the progress of the pandemic situation.
And in these conditions, the possibility is not ruled out that the closing of the weekends will return as it happened in the spring months where from Friday evening to Monday morning the movement of people was not allowed, neither within the city nor between cities, except in cases of emergencies.
Sources close to the government told SCAN that there is a possibility that such a measure could soon be returned to be applied as a preventive measure for the spread of the pandemic.
