“100 villages” presented as Albania’s new tourism drive for 2018
100 villages across Albania that have tourism potential, but not only, will be backed up with the goal of enhancing their economic development and employment growth.
The program “100 villages” whose selection has already been made, envisions government intervention in infrastructure and services, but also funding through grants.
“These villages have an attractive effect and high potential in tourism, thus in tourism development, socio-economic development, they have rich natural and environmental resources, cultural heritage, and traditional products. We are talking about villages that are the crown of rural development of our country. So we will work hard in these three years with these villages. We will support the project package for each village, including infrastructure intervention, economic support through ministry grants, and training and support for the local community,” said advisor to the Minister of Agriculture, Enea Hoti.
With regard to the support for individuals and farmers, there will be some categories that may be beneficial, both from the state budget and from donors.
In total, it is estimated that only about 2 million euros will be invested by the Ministry of Agriculture.
Program “100 villages” has become part of the strategy of the Ministry of Agriculture for the period 2018-2020.
Advisor to the Minister of Agriculture, Enea Hoti, has also announced some of the villages selected as beneficiaries of the project.
“In Tirana we have the villages of Shëngjergj, Pezë, Shesh, but we also have Voskopoja, Dardha, Thethi, Drishti, Fishta – that is, villages that have a great potential for development.”
