568 public assets expected to be privatized to counter compensation fee

The inter-institutional commission for the identification of state properties that can be used for compensation of legal owners has identified a total of 1570 objects that might be used for this purpose.

Scan has seen the official communication between the Property Treatment Agency, which has the role of the Technical Secretariat of the Commission, and the five institutions that were asked to offer information on the available properties.

It is understood that the Ministry of Finance and Economy, and the Ministry of Defense have replied.

The Property Treatment Agency suggests that 568 of them have already been put under the privatization process.

These involve premises of former communist-era factories, and state-owned enterprises, warehouses, buildings, and a considerable number of former military bases.

Most of these facilities are located in Tirana and Elbasan, with respectively 122 and 121 properties.

The rest of the properties for which the privatization procedures have started are in Fier, Shkodër and Berat.

But there are also no state properties on the coast, which are mainly concentrated in the cities of Durres and Vlora.
