7 sectors hit by COVID-19 / Government forecasts: Consumption, investment and exports will fall

The government has made a forecast of the sectors most likely to be hit by measures taken to curb the spread of Coronavirus. Thus, according to the forecasts made, not reflected in the normative act on changes in the budget, it is said that “it is expected that the economic activities related to the tourism, transport, trade sectors will have the highest negative impact”.

But, according to the government, the processing, extractive, services and construction sectors are also expected to be significantly affected. On the other hand, sectors that may benefit from this situation are identified. “At the same time, some other sectors may have a net positive impact, such as: the agricultural sector, mainly due to the effect of replacing imported goods with domestically produced ones, ”reads the report. Government, from the standpoint of aggregate demand, the highest negative impact is expected on total exports, especially services, and on final consumption but also on total investment is expected to have a negative impact, though more moderate than the two components first.
