Albanian gov’t eyes UK stock markets for next Eurobond issuance
The Albanian government is about to issue a 500m eurobond in some markets in Europe and the United States, aimed at attracting important investors, reports the economic portal SCAN.
According to documents that SCAN has seen, the government also confirms the pre-emption through a bid of the existing eurobond, issued in 2010 and 2015.
Recently, the government has pave the way to procedures for finding a legal firm specializing in providing legal advice on Eurobonds issuing.
The firm that will serve as a consultant should have expertise in British law, which implies that the issuing will be placed on UK stock markets.
The legal consultant service will last until 31 December 2019 and is expected to cost around 258 thousand euros.
The team that will assist the Ministry of Finance and Economy in listing bonds will consist of 5 legal and economic experts with experience in the process of issuing sovereign debt.
The foreign consultant will assist in structuring the bid, setting legal deadlines, preparing documentation, negotiating with the banks until the bonds are placed on the market and completing the process.
The issuance of a Eurobond was announced in the draft budget of this year and will serve to avoid restrictions stemming from the limited internal market limit and to serve the debt obligations in foreign currency, which during this year are around 20 higher than in 2017.
The issuance of this Eurobond is expected to take place during October this year, although the duration of the contract with the consultant may mean the extension of this process.
