Gov’t to review business concerns over 2018 fiscal package: Qato
The fiscal package has now been passed to the business community and is being discussed by all involved actors.
In a statement to TV SCAN , State Minister for Enterprise Protection, Sonila Qato, said that the suggestions of all Chambers of Commerce and business associations will be summarized in a single draft, which will then be submitted to the Ministry of Finance.
According to Qato, the aim is to improve the business climate in Albania.
“We have started an action of gathering all proposals from all interest groups and active associations in the country. We are elaborating their proposals and these proposals will soon be passed on to the government, in order so that we can see what the government will reflect regarding the submitted proposals. What is certain is that the proposal by the office of the State Minister for Entrepreneurship Protection will be sent to the government in a package of all proposals that have some role and impact on the economy,” Qato said.
“We’ve received the fiscal package, we’ve read it, and we have our suggestions. Next week, we will send our requests, involving those of the board, of all the associations, by gathering and addressing very carefully the business concerns. The government and the ministers often do not really know the problem, because there are also some deficiencies in the structuring the requests and how the issues are settled,” said Nikolin Jaka, chair of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
The draft fiscal package that will accompany the next year’s budget contains some legal changes, most of which revolve around the property tax formula, the VAT for businesses in the field of tourism, as well as changes in the excise tax rate for cigarettes.
