“Draft protocols for protests” – Civil Society, Committee of Experts: Prohibition is undermining democracy

Representatives of civil society demand the drafting of safety protocols by health institutions, in order to allow the organization of protests, but protecting health. They considered it unfair to restrict the right to protest, which directly affects democracy while organizing parallel political activities, which gather citizens.

The Swedish ambassador to our country, Elsa Hastad, also said that the lack of freedom of assembly threatens democracy. Meanwhile, the chairwoman of the Technical Committee of Experts, Mira Rakacolli said that the purpose of stopping the protests in times of pandemics is not to limit this right and violate democracy, but to respect another right which is the right to health.
