Fines for 16 companies which violated the privacy of citizens – Mostly call centers and airlines companies

In the first 8 months of the year, 16 fine decisions were taken by the Commissioner for Personal Data Protection for entities that have abused the privacy of citizens or their employees. From the decisions, it results that during this period the sectors that have been controlled and where violations have been caught, have been different, but mostly call center companies dominate.

From the list of fined entities, it is noticed that 5 of the decisions are in this sector. Also, travel companies, road and air, private universities, pharmacies, etc. were punished. Over the years, the most problematic in violating privacy have been call centers, travel companies, direct marketing companies and health companies. The value of fines imposed by the Commissioner for Personal Data Protection varies from 20 thousand to 2 million ALL.
