German models favored by Albanians as country imported 330m euros in cars in 2017
Albania has imported 330 million euros in cars during last year.
Foreign trade data in the category of vehicles, with the exception of caravans, account for ALL 43 billion of imports in the country, including personal vehicles and other vehicles with relatively high nominal value, such as trucks or buses, with the latter being just a fraction.
The processed data show that Germany hold the top spot as far as car importers are concerned with ALL 19 billion in 2017, around 150 million euros a year.
Germany’s dominance is explained by the high presence of cars produced by Volkswagen and Mercedes Benz, models that have proved very successful among Albanians, but also by the high emigration of Albanians and the relatively lower costs of used cars.
Third place is held by Italy with ALL 8.4 billion, followed by Great Britain with only ALL 1.6 billion, Japan ALL 1.5 billion, and Switzerland with ALL 1.28 billion.
The United States, France, China, the Czech Republic and Turkey close the first ten spots.
Germany, which holds the first place, accounts for 44% of the import market, while the top 5 places in the list account for 74% of imports, namely ¾.
