INSTAT / The transport of the goods, railways and ports ‘strengthened’, airways ‘weakened’
The volume of freight transported and unloaded at ports in February 2020 has increased by approximately 15% compared to February 2019. According to the latest INSTAT report, a total of 360,000 tons of freight have been transported to ports.
According to INSTAT, rail transport has also been “heavier” in the second month of this year. In February 2020, the volume of freight transported by rail is 3 million tonnes per kilometer, up 5.7% more than in February 2019.
In fact, according to INSTAT data, the period January – February 2020 also resulted in a higher volume of freight loaded and unloaded at ports, with a total of 688.9 thousand tonnes, or 12.5% more than in January – February 2019.
The same upward trend has been observed for rail transport in the first 2 months of 2020, where the volume of freight transported by rail is 6 million tonnes per kilometer, up by about 17% compared to the first 2 months of the year. 2019.
In terms of air freight transport, February resulted in an increase in freight transport, from 167 tonnes in February 2019 to 178.8 tonnes, up 7.1%. However, unlike rail freight or sea freight, in the period January – February 2020, freight loaded by air declined slightly by 2.5%.
Referring to INSTAT, in the first two months of 2019, the volume of goods transported by air was 365 tons, while in January-February 2020, this value dropped to 355.9 tons.
