Preferential lane border – Trade without delays with the countries of the region, only for food and medicine
As of this Monday, the newest agreement between the countries of Cefta, according to the model of the European Union, has entered into force on the borders of Albania with the countries of the region, that include trade of the emergence of those considered essential products, which to a large extent include food or pharmaceutical products, the list of which is public.
Cefta’s countries, in addition to Albania, are: Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Northern Macedonia, Serbia, Kosovo and Moldova. The concept of preferential green lanes has been agreed between member states since March, and entered into force only on April 13. This decision will allow member states to transport essential goods within their borders, without delay, to cope with the covid-19 emergency.
For this reason, the electronic data exchange system has been updated, so that the customs and border administration can process the shipping data before the arrival of the trucks, and there is no loss of time at the border. The list of essential products can be periodically modified by the secretariat.
