Removal of transfer commissions / Makes millions of euros in savings and encourages electronic payments
Today, the regulation of the Bank of Albania enters into force, which removes all commissions for bank transfers within the country that will be performed through the Internet or mobile phone. This regulation is expected to significantly reduce the costs of citizens and businesses, but also to give a strong impetus to the use of electronic payments by Albanians.
According to official information on banking commissions reported by the Bank of Albania, on average, the average commission applied by commercial banks is about 400 Lekë for small value transfers and about 1200 Lekë for large value transfers. As of today, this is a cost that Albanians will no longer pay for interbank transfers.
Official statistics show that the number of bank accounts connected to the Internet at the end of last year reached approximately 442 thousand. The use of internet banking has increased for the eleventh year in a row. The number of online transactions last year was more than 2.6 million.
