Tourist season in Albania: According to taxes Durrës and Vlora have the highest number of employees

The General Directory of Local Taxes and Fees has published data on new employment registered within the tourist season.

According to tax data it results that for the period 22 June – 6 August 2018 the number of new employees was 18,890.

These figures belong to the Regional Directories of Durrës, Vlora, Shkodra, Lezha and Saranda, where the mainly tourism activity is conducted. Also it reflects the daily work that the tax administration is doing to raise awareness of all the entities operating in these areas to announce Taxes.

In Durrës is the directory with the highest number of new employments with 7,657, followed by Vlora with 4,200, Saranda with 2,641, Shkodra with 2,238 and Lezha with 2,154.

Non-declaration of employees is a big problem. As part of the implementation of the measures plan for the tourist season, referring to the data available from the General Directory of Local taxes and fees about 370 taxpayers were found with undeclared employees.

As a result of controls exercised during this period by the respective structures, according to the data reported by the General Directory of Local Taxes and Fees they were immediately included in the scheme of social and health insurance contributions.
