UN report: 44% of Albanians cannot eat healthy because they cannot afford it
Nearly 44% of Albanians cannot afford a healthy diet, says the latest United Nations report on the state of food security in the world for 2020, newly published. The data of the report show that healthy eating costs Albanians as much as 41% of food expenses. About 15% of the Albanian population, meanwhile, finds it impossible to afford a diet with basic nutrients. This type of diet translates to about 27% of total food expenditures, according to data from the United Nations report on food security.
The data in the report refers to the period 2017-19. The data also show that, compared to last year, the under-fed population rate has almost halved, from around 6.2%, to 3.6% this year.
