We are the last in Europe for online shopping – Only 10% of internet users, in Kosovo the rate goes up to 33%
Albania is the last country in Europe in terms of online shopping, according to the latest figures from the European Statistics Agency (Eurostat). According to data referring to 2010, it turns out that, among Albanians who use the Internet, only 10% of them have made at least one online purchase during the previous 12 months of the survey. This figure is indisputably the lowest in Europe, while the European Union average is fixed at 68%, the numbers show.
In Kosovo, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Northern Macedonia this rate rises above 30%, while in Serbia, it reaches 44%. Montenegro has this rate at 21%, which is also the penultimate country in the ranking, before Albania. For 2018 meanwhile, the rate in our country was fixed at 8%.
The expectation is that with the pandemic, online shopping in our country will have expanded. A report recently published by the World Bank for e-commerce in our country, in addition to highlighting the fact that we are the last in the region, emphasizes the primitiveness of online shopping in Albania, especially in terms of payments, for the most part made cash on delivery, while online card payments are the favourites in Europe but also in the region The source also turns out to be mass social networks.
