What is Albania doing to provide the vaccine? Asked by reporters, Minister of Health Ogerta Manastirliu said that the Albanian government is making efforts to start the vaccination process in the first months of next year.
The Minister mentioned the fact that Albania has become part of the global Covax instrument that provides for an equal distribution of the vaccine. She also said that another effort is the one with the European Commission as well as through direct contacts with manufacturing companies.
“We are 100% committed and we are working with Pfizer,” said the minister but without giving further details. In her response, the minister extensively explained the precautionary measures that Albania is taking to respond to the vaccination plan.
She noted that Albania has ready the vaccination plan for infrastructure, depending on the type of vaccine that will be provided.
Regarding the priority of vaccination, the minister said that in addition to health workers, those who are over 75 years old and those who are over 65 years old but with chronic diseases will be vaccinated. Meanwhile, critical service employees are also on the priority list.
