Albania’s Vetting: 2.200 files linked to judges, prosecutors under scrutiny
The number of files currently under review by the Immovable Property Registration Offices under the Vetting Process has reached 2.200.
Scan Television has learned that two working groups are currently working to physically review the files of more than 700 judges and prosecutors and about 1,500 family members or persons associated with them.
The current review consists in the manual verification of three types of cadastral data.
This is because only a small part of the properties are easily verified electronically. The rest is digitized, but information is not uploaded to the electronic cadastral system.
Meanwhile, there is still a number of immovable properties that are not digitized and their scrutiny can only be done physically.
But there is also no doubt that in certain cases Immovable Property Registration officials have deliberately hidden the files of judges and prosecutors to help them evade the Vetting process.
The review of each file in these categories is done by a group of two specialists who find out if there is discrepancy between assets for each file.
It has been learned that the two groups will work even on weekends to shed light on the properties of judges and prosecutors.
The Vetting process envisions a review the real properties of all judges and prosecutors.
The result of the physical verification of the files will be compared to the data presented to the HIDAAI by judges and prosecutors themselves.
