Hahn urges concrete results by January as Albania enters EU-critical vetting process
Prime Minister Edi Rama has urged the EU to open membership negotiations with Albania.
At a joint conference with Enlargement Commissioner Johannes Hahn, PM Rama said that Albania has made concrete steps in referring to the launching of the vetting process in the context of the justice reform, one of the key priorities for membership.
On the other hand, the Enlargement Commissioner acknowledged that Albania has made progress in several areas, but sought concrete results from vetting in January of next year.
“One of the first results for a positive recommendation is the vetting process, which has just started. I expect to see the first results by early next year”, Hahn said.
Johannes Hahn urged all parties in Albania to become one when it comes to the integration process.
Regarding the EC report for Albania, Hahn said that it will be released in spring.
