Concession of VAT collection is just political rumor, claims Minister Ahmetaj
The collection of VAT will continue to be carried out by state structures and there will be no concession procedure for this public service.
At a press conference, the Minister of Finance and Economy Arben Ahmetaj reiterated his position, announcing that fiscal facilities for small business were also envisaged.
“This is the political windmill claiming that there will be a new tax for small business, a concession for the VAT. I’ve already told you and I’m repeating it. There has never been, there isn’t, and there will never be any VAT concession. Rather, the procedure we are doing with small business is in favor of formalization and in favor of small business. The encouraging and facilitating policies at the Prime Minister’s initiative will continue and in the coming months you will be invited to listen.”
Ahmetaj made an overview of the World Bank Report and the Progress Report of the European Commission for Albania, pointing out that the two documents confirm the positive performance of the economy.
Ahmetaj also addressed current concerning issues, such as employment and salaries.
Citing the reports, Ahmetaj stressed that the banking system in the country has been highly praised.
Regarding the fiscal system, the Minister of Finance stressed that it is reducing inequality and the progressive tax is in favor of the poorest strata of the society.
