EBRD, EU will invest 40m euro for tourism development in Albania
The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and the European Union will invest 40m euros for the development of tourism in Albania.
During a meeting with business representatives from this sector, the head of the EU Delegation in Tirana Romana Vlahutin stated that only price reductions are not enough to develop tourism, but what is needed are investments in those segments that the region does not offer anything substantial.
The EU representative lists some points that need intervention, highlighting the financial support for small and medium-sized enterprises in this sector.
“The environment is a big challenge, do not underestimate it. There is a lot to do here in terms of supply. Along with EBRD, we will invest 40 million euros, and the first pilot phase is 20 million euros. Small and medium enterprises are very important, in this context you compete with highly developed markets around you so it’s not easy. You need to know about spicy things, not just low prices, and our next intervention regards the regional approach,” Vlahutin said.
At this meeting, the Minister of Tourism and Environment Blendi Klosi focused on tourism development projects, which will be extended to four main points in Tirana, the Alps, the Adriatic Coast Marina and the South.
According to Klosi, cleaning is the main task, while also announcing for another action on April 16-22.
“Next week – and here I would do a lot to tell everyone to be part – we will start our action to clear the soil during the Earth Week that for us is from April 16 to 22, which is Earth Day, to do a total cleaning of the rivers and coasts and here all state institutions and all partners of state institutions will be engaged,” Klosi said.
