From December 2, the import of vehicles older than 10 years is prohibited in Albania
Soon, it will no longer be allowed the import of cars that are older than 10 years. This is a decision taken by the Council of Ministers aimed at minimizing the pollution of the environment resulting from used cars outside of European standards. The decision published in the official notebook will enter into force on December 2, 2018, while for all cars that have been imported into our country prior to the entry into force of this law but have not completed the registration procedures will be left a deadline until March 1, 2019, to complete the proceedings.
The Tirana Mayor, Erion Veliaj, considered a very good news the decision to stop importing vehicles older than 10 years and creating facilities for those using zero-pollution vehicles in the environment. From Unit 7, where he presented the 2019 Budget for the residents of the area, but also made a balance sheet of the works carried out in the last three years, Veliaj said that it is being seen the possibility that the customs for electricity will become zero as a solution to add cars that does not pollute the environment.
Good news for the capital is also the government’s priority to give more power to alternative transport, primarily buses and electric cars. The mayor said that the Municipality of Tirana is very close to the realization of this project, to start work with electric buses.
