How money in circulation increased in Q2 – BoA: On average, ALL 33.6 billion were injected daily into the system
In the second quarter of 2020, the Bank of Albania interventions in the money market consisted of open market operations for liquidity injection. “The average daily injection through liquidity injection operations with a maturity of 1-13 weeks, was ALL 33.63 billion against ALL 27.34 billion in the previous quarter and ALL 26.88 billion in the second quarter of 2019 “– says the Bank of Albania.
Following the trend identified since February, money in circulation has been the main factor that has increased the banks’ need for liquidity. After increasing in the period February-March by ALL 9.02 billion, in the second quarter of the year, money in circulation increased by ALL 22.20 billion. Other operations of the Bank of Albania, such as the increase of S&AP agreements with MFE by about ALL 19.50 billion, the acquisition by the EBRD of 49 million Euros, as well as the increase of the treasury bill portfolio by ALL 6.90 billion.
