IMF report findings are valuable to government, opposition: Malaj at Civici’s Argument

Former Finance Minister Arben Malaj commented on the report of the International Monetary Fund, which provides a series of recommendations and warnings for the Albanian economy.

In a love phone link with Enio Civici’s Argument, Malaj praised the report as a valid document for the political class.

According to Malaj, the findings and recommendations of the report should serve to the majority to make appropriate projections on risk-reducing reforms.

On the other hand, the report is also valid for the opposition which can emphasize potential risks to the Albanian economy.

Regarding the reserves that IMF has expressed regarding the proposal to create a joint institution by merging tax offices with customs, Malaj said that the government has also reviewed the initial project by not taking such a step immediately but gradually.

According to Malaj, first what is needed is a clarification of steps to be taken and initially there may be a coordination between the two institutions, starting from the exchange of information and the identification of potential risks.
