PM Rama urges Albania’s Ambassadors to make economy main pillar of their job
The Albanian Prime Minister, Edi Rama, met with Albania’s ambassadors in foreign countries and he very critical stating that the responsibility for the failings of the service falls on a range of actors and factors.
“Nothing has changed today. The country’s economy is an area that MFA cannot consider outside the sphere of personal responsibilities and obligations. I’m not relieving myself from responsibility in front of you on this responsibility. I take responsibility for such an inherent weakness inherited for so many years. It shouldn’t be like this; I will hold myself responsible for as far as I can. The work of the chief of diplomacy will be measured how and how the role of the foreign service will be improved for the benefit of our country’s economy,” Prime Minister Rama said.
Rama declared there is no more room for bureaucrats in the Foreign Service.
“There is no place for diplomats who don’t have the culture to articulate themselves in their own language, let alone others. We don’t need individuals who are unable to understand political occurrences and adopt them according to our interests. There has been a cleansing these four years of many parasites placed in our embassies for multiple reasons, but not for serving to the country. But we still have many inappropriate diplomats”, Rama said.
The Prime Minister also spoke about embassy drivers.
“I will not mention embassy drivers as well, but there are still some of them who turned ambassadors into pedestrians and government vehicles into family taxi cabs”, Rama said.
