2552 primary and secondary businesses closed down in Tirana during 2017: Tax authority
Around 2500 primary and secondary businesses have closed down in the capital during last year.
The figure consists of closed down businesses that have applied for deregistration or have passed on to passive status.
According to the data reported by the General Directory of Local Taxes and Fees, 1613 of them are primary businesses and 939 secondary subjects.
Among the main subjects, most of the closures involve small business, at 1513, while there are about 93 large businesses that have decided not to operate any more in the market.
The report is reversed with respect to the secondary subjects, resulting in 485 closed large businesses and 185 small businesses.
Meanwhile, during last year, 6274 new major businesses have been opened in Tirana, of which 5881 are small businesses and 355 are large businesses, while the rest are included in the other category.
While there are about 1620 new secondary subjects open during last year.
The figure of open subjects shows that despite the fact that many businesses have not managed to remain in the market, Albania’s capital is attractive for new economic activities, and mainly for the categories of “retail” and “services”.
