65 million euros of fruits and vegetables crossed the borders / Exports “Made in Albania”, “bypass” the pandemic
Although the country has been under pressure from the COVID-19 pandemic for months, the agricultural sector seems to have performed positively, not stopping the growth momentum, at least in terms of exports. Referring to the official data of the Ministry of Agriculture, for the 9 months of 2020, fruit and vegetable exports result in an increase in both quantity and value.
Specifically in quantities were exported 17.6% more than the same period a year ago, or about 160 thousand tons in total. While in monetary value, the increase results in 16.6%, with an increase of about 1.1 billion compared to the same period a year ago.
The data of the Ministry of Agriculture show that the export of vegetables for the 9 months of 2020 constitutes 77.4% of the export volume of fruits and vegetables while the export of fruits constitutes 22.5% of the quantity traded abroad. Trade volume for fruits increased by 9.37% and for vegetables increased by 6.43%.
