Albania’s problem with “animosity” to business: Last in Europe, 103rd in the world among 130 countries
Albania ranks last in Europe and 103th in the world among 130 economies in the global elasticity index 2018.
This index measures the business climate and the risks faced by entrepreneurship.
Albania’s ranking in the region and Europe in the last spot is a real reason for concern for policymakers.
The risks assessed are diverse and include natural disasters, risks deriving from politics, cyber threats, and so on.
So in general terms, Albania is the most dangerous country in Europe to do business, according to this index.
Albania has only 27.8 points in this index, which ranks it last in the continent.
The index is based on three subindicators: the economic, the quality of risk and the supply chain.
Albania’s worst performance is in the quality of risk, ranking 120th among 130 countries around the world.
On the economic side, the country holds the 93th spot in the world.
A year ago our country ranked 108th in the world, which speaks about an improvement in the overall rankings with 5 positions.
In the region, Serbia ranks 66th, Macedonia 77th and Bosnia and Herzegovina 60th, while Montenegro and Kosovo have not been analyzed by this index.
At the global level, meanwhile, Switzerland ranks first, Luxembourg second and Sweden in the third place, just as much as a year ago.
The last place is held by both Venezuela and Haiti.
